A note from Danielle:
Thank you so much to the many folks who have expressed interest in volunteering during my maternity leave! I’m honestly floored. While Second Shapes has always managed to pay its own rent, it has rarely been able to pay staff, so I’ve been really nervous about not being able to stay open without me being there unpaid. It’s such a relief to have coverage and know the shop will continue running this summer!
Volunteer requirements / expectations:
18+ (but a young person may accompany an adult, just make a note)
Commitment to Second Shapes Bookstore’s values
Able to work 6 hours per shift (ability to sit as often as needed)
Love for the neighbors and neighborhood + the books!
Note: You’re definitely able to do your own thing during your shift between ringing up customers (working on a computer, reading a book, doing a craft) but usually not the best time to do phone calls or video meetings
